The Finger and the Veil
By
I recently discovered another Englishman in New York with an excellent blog called Brit in Brooklyn.
The blog is mainly made up of beatiful images. The kind you see every day in the city but only someone with a keen eye can capture.
I was particularly impressed with Brit in Brooklyn’s photograph of the Williamsburgh Bank Building not just because of the image but because of the title: ‘The Finger’. I’d never looked at the buiding in that way before.
The Williamsburgh Bank Building is probably the best known landmark in the borough after the Brooklyn Bridge. We can see it from our kitchen window. (When my mother-in-law last visited she was reminded of another part of the human anatomy, but we won’t go into that here.)

Recently, the uppermost part of the bank, including the clock tower, disappeared beneath scaffolding.
It’s not nearly as attractive as it used to be. But putting a Brit in Brooklyn spin on it, you could say that the clock has been temporarily shrouded by a veil.

I checked out his site – there are a lot of really cool photos. I liked the one of the beach outside the subway car windows, and the one of the clock on the beach.
