An old post, I know, Pavlik, but I just picked up the book of the exhibition - absolutely staggering - and the essays are excellent as well. Boris Groys is one theorist I've been reading a great deal.

I just popped in at lunch time to check it out. Those colors weren't so pastelly in real life and I had no idea the painting was so big.

I loved everything from about 1800 to 1970. It is one of the best exhibitions I've ever been to. Funny that considering how much I hate Russians.

Oh and that ‘ninth wave’ picture is awesome. Surely the most dramatic use of pastel shades ever.

Do you have any idea why they surrounded the museum with a fancy big scaffold? Is it for restoration purposes or is it somehow Russian related?

And why were there huge trucks full of sand outside the front of the museum the other night? Did Putin pay the place a visit or something? Were they protection against Terrorists or is the place full of sand?

It all seems very mysterious to me.
