Perch Fishing in Surrey

By

An email from my friend Bo arrived this morning. Nice to see some things never change:

moscow-132.jpg

It’s a 13 lb perch caught using luncheon meat marinaded in
marmite.
Took me 20 minutes to land him on a 12 lb line.
I had my thumb in his mouth to stop him
shaking loose.
The blue shirt is by oswald boateng and I am wearing
lithuanian amber & silver cufflinks but they are out of shot. You can
also see a waterfoul in the background. There was a heron sitting
watching all afternoon and I saw some young ducklings.

Yours fondly,
Perch fishing in Surrey

what the heck is it then? I was told by my guide that it was a Perch.

You needed a guide to tell you what it was?

How can you go perch fishing in Surrey and not know what a perch looks like?

Guide now claims he told me from the outset that it was a carp and has cited the 4 beers I drank in the sunshine as reason for my error. Further he tells me that the pool in the picture is stocked exclusively with carp and there is not a single perch to be found within miles.

Landing the beast took a terrific toll on my muscles, I cannot imagine how sports fisherman land things like marlin, tuna and small sharks from the back of their motor boats a la Jaws

Hi Beau, nice catch. Who is the waistcoat by? I think we should be told.

you should know, my garlic eating chum, that it is in fact a GILET which sounds like a French name to me. Anyway, I suggest you get one, mine has two big outside pockets which are great for stuffing all of lifes necessities into. you could carrry a bottle of home made pastis in one side and some rillettes in the other
