The Last Meal

By

Barring a last-minute act of clemency from Florida governor Charlie Crist, Martin Grossman will be executed today at 6 pm EST. (In about three hours.) I just got off the phone from Florida Department of Corrections, who gave me the details of Grossman’s last meal request: a banana cream cookie, a peanut butter cookie, fruit punch and a chicken sandwich.

Update: My story about the execution is here.

Well it’s not his last meal if he believes in reincarnation is it… he may well at this very moment be tucking into a celestial salt beef sandwhich.

I cannot believe how casually America regards murder, whether it be state sanctioned executions or dropping bombs on other countries – it truly sickens me that in this day and age, there is still a death penalty and the crux of the discussion is a final meal

America truly is hell on Earth
