In The Cemetery With Dad
By
My parents are in town this week after their whirlwind tour of the West coast. My dad was laid low on Sunday, so we took my mum for a Brooklyn brunch. Yesterday it was my mum’s turn to feel unwell so I took my dad for a walk. Thankfully, he didn’t take offense when I suggested Green-Wood Cemetery.

Here he is doing his finest Montgomery impression with the statue of Minerva at his side. This is Battle Hill, one of the highest points in Brooklyn and scene of one of the early battles of the Revolutionary War. It’s an excellent vantage point with views across New York harbor. Minerva is waving towards the Statue of Liberty, which you may just be able to make out in the photo below.

Among Green-Wood’s more illustrious residents, such as Samuel Morse and William “Boss” Tweed is Louis Comfort Tiffany, so we stopped by the cemetery chapel to admire his stained glass.
