Paul, I'm saying that there seems to be a subtext of courtship in many blogs. You know at least two couples who met through their blogs, and I'm sure there are plenty more out there. I think that blogs, and any form of personal web site, are a stealthy way for the single author to meet likeminded companions without saying so.

You should conduct a survey to see how many bloggers out there have ever had romantic encounters with readers of their blog. You can start with me: AYE!

PD, blogs in general can be construed as personal ads. Until the blogger becomes attached.

Mr Levin

This post in itself could be construed as a personal ad! Perhaps you should have posted a photograph with it!

And my name is not PD! It's Paul. Although, you can call me PD if you like :)

All very well if the type of girl you are after is an ‘Alison’ but why not ask yourself what you are actually looking for. If it is a woman who finds you ‘creepy’ thinks humour is a good start, but thinks that yours sucks and would like you sufficiently humble, although only mildly! Congratulations, I think you just got your first response.

NO.

1. Too sexual
2. Too mocking
3. Makes the girl feel like an ass
4. Creepy of course

But I do like the idea of using humour as a starter. Keep trying, you'll do better! Just don't be too sexy, mocking, sarcastic or creepy. Perhaps a bit of mild self-deprecation? If done with enough confidence, women love that.
