Today’s Blogarithms story in Metro is the excellent Docmaker on the Go, a hip hop vlog with clips of breakdancers, graffiti artists and rappers performing on the streets of New York.
Documentary maker Lynn Lane has a real passion for his subject. He has interviews with the very first hip hop artists like Grandmaster Caz (of Cold Crush) and contemporary hip hop artists like Buddha Bride. Even if you’re not into hip hop I dare you to watch her and not be impressed by her energy, passion and skill.
If you’re into graffiti you might like this interview with WINE during Old Timers Day at 5 Pointz Graffiti Museum in Queens.
I met Lane the other week near Union Square and he has some very exciting ideas about vlogging. He’s found that as a documentary maker vlogs are an excellent way of sharing his work with a wide audience. He’s starting a new vlog called vlogumentarian in the next few weeks, which might be worth bookmarking now.
For the full story about Docmaker pick up a copy of Metro or download this pdf file. And just remember hip hop was born in New York.
