Here’s a snippet from Russian television showing how Boris defeated the evil Gennady Zyuganov, of the Communist Party, in a post Perestroika dance dance revolution face off otherwise known as the 1996 Presidential election.

It has been wall to wall standing on tanks and drunkeness on the BBC all afternoon - Malcolm Rifkind was wheeled out as their main interviewee, followed by John Major. The radio fared slightly better, with a queue of second rate Russian politicians and diplomats. I look forward to actually reading normal Russians’ responses, as the few they have interviewed seem drawn between viewing him as a democrat and as a the embodiment of 90’s style corruption. Yet they still see him as a Russian, frequently refering to the seeming contradictions in his personality as part of his ‘dusha’… I’ll have a cruise round Yandex later this evening…
