Heather: What if you get a democrat president with a conservative ideology on the side, would you vote then?

I would vote for a minority or female president if they were Republican--Colin Powell, Condi Rice, Thomas Sowell, even Ann Coulter would be better than Carol Mosley Braun, etc--but I cannot vote for a minority or female Democrat. The Democratic party is already comprised of too many anti-American, europhile socialists. A minority or woman would be, historically, much worse. Don't forget in her book "It Takes a Village" Hillary Clinton once suggested that America emmulate France (she wrote this while first lady, no less). I wonder if Hillary meant France's crumbling higher education system, its stagnant economy or its chronic racism.... Seeing America turned into another European welfare state is not something I look forward to....

Yeah, Chicago is full-blown Obama country. The paper I string for, the Sun-Times, just endorsed him a few days ago. Conversely, Hillary was born and grew up here, so who the hell knows.

I never thought I'd say this, but even the Republicans left in the field seem to be a (minor) improvement over the guy currently presiding at 1600. Then again, their foreign policy seems to be cut from the same page.

I arrived in October 2003, so it's my second election. But it's the first election I've followed closely.

I have no idea who my "fellow Englishmen" would like to see in the White House. My guess is that, like me, they would be happy with Clinton or Obama.

What about you? You're in Chicago, right? How is Obama viewed up there on home turf? And will he take Illinois easily?

pdberger,

Is this your first American election in the States? Get your popcorn ready, because the fun's about to start.

Besides most of your fellow Englishmen wanting a democrat in office, is there a leaning for a particular candidate?

What is wrong with this woman (Clitoris), every time she publishes a book, she comes out and barks around. Since when a staunch Republican supporter became a Democrat supporter?

And who really cares about her Neo-conservative opinion? I forgot there are a lot of idiot, ignorant, fundamental, rich mother f**kers.

At least McCain is an American hero, what has she contributed?
