Cha-Cha-Cha-Changes

By

I’m toying with the idea of making some changes to the blog layout, particularly making use of some more screen width. Any thoughts?

Didn’t we all harangue you into not changing your layout before although, I have to say, as long as the background is bright, I don’t mind too much one way or the other. I thought the visiting section was going to be a list of slots when we could pop into your house for a cup of tea. You know, “Paul and Sofie will be at home at…” Instead pins stuck into poor old New York’s body like it was some wicked old voodoo doll. What can it all mean?

I was, indeed, harangued. Though Beau had a good old whinge a few months back about me not changing the theme.

I like this layout but there appear to be a few problems with pages and with the right sidebar (on the back end). I’m hoping for wireless internet on my Leeds – Edinburgh train tomorrow so I can have a couple of hours to play around.

Ignore the Visiting page for now. I hope to have that one sorted in the coming months…

I think this is a good size – bit more spacious than the last one.
You definitely need a bit of colour in your header though. Is there anyway you can always ensure the comments (or at least the first 10) always appear directly below the post rather than having to click for them? I reckon that’s the way to go.

Rather than changing the theme Paul I think what you’ve done is sterilised it and actually removed all trace of a theme. It’s very white isn’t it and frankly I think it looks less sophisticated than it did before.

How is Edinburgh? Is it raining there at least? I just bought a great Umbrella in Florence and there has not been a single drop of rain in London since I’ve had the damn thing. Infact everywhere I go with my new umbrella from Florence turns out to be a veritable desert weather wise. I’m really pissed off actually.

Nice weekend all.

Hi Ben, Beau. The theme is very customizable. I can add background colors, header images etc. But before I embark on that road I need to make sure the damn thing works…and right now there is enough going wrong with the template to make me wonder whether I need to look elsewhere for a theme.

Will see what I can do in the next week or so…

Beau, if you want to test drive that umbrella I recommend Leeds (where I am currently situated) which has seen almost continuous rain/drizzle for the past 24 hours.

Edinburgh tomorrow.

It has potential. I like wide.

It looks good, but I would remove that colour on the edge from your previous layout.
Change is good sometimes.

Is there a search function hiding somewhere? I want to look for your Peru posts as I am harbouring very (wet, freshly-laid, easily defaceable) concrete fantasies about going next year.

9

And Happy New Year, by the way!

Search function hurriedly installed…Happy New Year to you too!

Happy New Year to you all………. Cretin Regnant especially

I’m not sure how I feel about the ALL CAPS POST TITLES … and you know how case-sensitive I can be.

Why thank you Ermiyas. A very happy new year to you too old friend.
