Hmmm. My favorite coffee to go/sit outside is Gorilla Coffee on Park Place and 5th Av (It can be a bit noisy inside if you want to read). There's a larger, comfier Ozzie's on 5th Av. too.

As for restaurants, Yamato on 7th Av. has the best sushi (although Geido on Flatbush isn't bad). I've never eaten in Beast Bar on Vanderbilt in Prospect Heights but I always want to because it looks so cosy. If you don't mind spending a bit then Rosewater , on Union and 6th Av. has to be one of the best restaurants in NY.

I am just moving to Park Slope from Clinton Hill and having 2nd thoughts, as I know I will miss Rice, Thomas Beisl and other good and reasonable restos. But hate the G train and no views from my 1st floor at 277 Washington Avenue. Now going to buy a smaller, ( all I can afford) at 55 Montgomery Place, with a view of the extremely beautiful houses on the street from the 3rd floor. Who can tell me where there is a good restaurant and coffee bar near there. I tried Ozzies, nice, but not really comfy, and loved the Bagel Place on 7th Ave. also no place to sit and relax, but superb bagels and spreads.

How very extremely annoying these prices are! I just got back from Pittsburgh where my inlaws (native Park Slopers) have young new neighbors who also used to live in Park Slope. They said they were delighted to be in Pittsburgh because they would have never been able to afford said one bedroom in P.S. and now they have a lovely Victorian. Who are these rich people taking over Brooklyn? Rumor has it they are from the Midwest.
